In an earlier
post I mentioned that I wanted to paint one of my helmets, perhaps something a little retro to go along with the Suzuki. The next day my good friend Ricky stopped by and as I told him of my idea he offered to lay it out for me. I had no intention of him doing this, but he is much more proficient at it than me.

The number 34 is my way of paying homage to
Wes Cooley, a champion of the
AMA Superbike circuit in the mid to late seventies.
Ricky laid out the design in about twenty minutes and I did the painting later that night. The next day I added the striping and the numerals. It was my first attempt at painting a helmet and it's not perfect, but it was loads of fun and it only cost me about $15.
